With many commercial buildings not in use or at a minimum usage due to the pandemic caused by Covid-19, there is a very real concern of an increase in Legionellosis (according to The Times of India).
The potential risk is due to stagnant water systems in buildings.
Legionellosis refers to any disease caused by the pathogenic bacterium Legionella. The bacterium can be inhaled via small water droplets in the air, which can then progress to Legionnaires’ disease. Legionnaires’ disease is a severe form of pneumonia, which can prove to be fatal.
